Love Myself

Jakeem Carrington

For you my love moves without limits

The only person I always seem to write about

All your hugs and kisses deep into the night

But you taught me to truly love myself right

It is okay to look back at the scars

My old cuts, bruises and scrapes

When I think of your love and generosity

You have reshaped my entire mental state

You taught me to love myself

To love my music and poetry

You removed the mask from my face

In that moment the Lord stared back at me

If only you knew the peace and influence

The comfort you brought to my little space

So much love I’ve given onto myself

Through my music and the poetry I create
